Left top is a look at the water from a mandatory tour I went on. Left middle is the Bishop Museum that we visited, nothing too special. Left bottom a surfing statue at Waikiki. Bottom right beach at Waikiki. Just below that's me at an observation spot on one of the mountains here.

Hawaiian Paradise

I've made it to the island known as Oahu. I'm in the US Army and for right now I do nothing. The island is alright not quite the tropical paradise I was hoping for but what can ya do? Honolulu and Waikiki are short 20 minute drives away when traffic isn't backed up. I've been to a few beaches and truthfully I wasn't impressed. The ocean hurts you here. Basically ten feet out in any direction the sand ends and all there is is sharp pointy rocks that are in no way smooth. The waves come in and out and drag your feet or body accross these like a cheese grater and its not comfortable. To make this better the water doesn't get too deep either so the fluctuation due to the incoming/receding wave raises/lowers the depth +2/-2. Maybe I'm just complaining I mean the weather is pretty comfortable except for the rain everyday, oh there I go again.

My job: I was recently assigned to the Anti-Tank 52nd Bravo Company. This is a brand new unit part of the Stryker Brigade. The Stryker is an armored vehicle much like a tank but with giant wheels. More so instead of being assigned with a platoon I am with Headquarters. I think this was more of an oversight than anything but I could be pushing paper in an office of sorts. However for the time being we don't have vehicles and any training material. We don't have weapons and we are supposed to be moving to a different area on base, housing and company. Right now we are piggy-backed with 1-21 while we form a company. The official break-up is supposed to be Nov 1st but I don't personally see that happening except for official purposes. The most I do is in the mornings between 6:30-8 am when we have physical exercise. This might include running 6 miles, 5 mile ruck sack march with 50lbs of gear, running sprints, and other various sorts of exercises.

I'll throw some pictures on here later hopefully, i.e. tomorrow or something.
